Witches Weekly: Pagan Clergy

July 03, 2005: Questions donated by: Malory

1. What do you think the role of pagan clergy is in our society/communities? Depends if you’re into that whole thing. I’m not, so I don’t really see a need for it. However, given some of the things in the world it’s probably nice that they’re around to oversee weddings and naming celebrations and all that.

2. If there was a pagan temple in your community like the Temple of Sekhmet, would you use it for a place to hold handfasting, naming, and coming of age rituals? Probably, if there was one I felt comfortable with. It’s very similar to trying to find a church – just because the religion is right doesn’t mean that the congregation & place is right.

3. Would you feel comfortable getting counseling from a member of the pagan community? If they were also a professional in the counseling field, probably. It’s a question of how much they would be pushing religion as the answer.
