Day of Silence

I don’t know how many of you are following what the Congress is attempting to do to Internet radio. Here is a link from SaveNetRadio.org with information about what is going on. The short version is that fees have been set to be hiked for internet broadcasters (only) on July 15th, with retroactive to 1/1/2006. This means some of the greatest places to find out about new music (like pandora.com) will be forced to go off-air because they will not be able to afford the fees.

The bill is targeting just the Internet broadcasters, from what I understand. This is neither fair nor right and it goes against so many things like freedom of speech and the freedom (within reason) of the airwaves. We need to make lawmakers realize that the world is changing, and instead of stifling those changes, we need to reclaim what is good and great about being a land of innovation and help instead of hinder progress.
